Official CLAWS product page. Eight built-in cameras identify individual plants in space and time and send crop data to a Farm Control System. Lightweight concept; 100% battery and solar-powered; claimed fully autonomous operation in different terrains and weather, day and night. Weeding: a concentrated pulse of energy / precise pulse of light aimed at the weed meristem, described as replacing herbicide drops — not framed on this page as a conventional reflective laser beam. Zero-till / no soil disturbance and no surface-root damage versus mechanical weeding are company claims. Niab testing: the page says Lightweeder “has been independently tested by Niab and confirmed that it controls different types of weeds including chemically (ALS) resistant weeds.” Scouting: image processing scans the field, indexes each plant’s location and size, and builds a digital replica. FIELD (Farmer Interface & Extracted Land Database) takes live crop data from stereo imaging cameras. Battery and solar; “100% electric and chemical free.” Proprietary AI detects weeds versus crop, then targets the meristem with a precise amount of light. Scouting: maps, crop health, growth rates. Navigation: centimetre accuracy using satellite-based control with RTK position correction; European Space Agency collaboration is named. Same two patent numbers. UK Agri-Tech Centre (17 July 2026). “Earth Rover: From prototype to commercial growth.” Founded 2017. CEO James Miller quoted. With Centre support, CLAWS moved from TRL 6 to TRL 8, with TRL 9 “expected in 2026.” £2.8 million private investment in 2025 (also described as across two funding rounds). Eight CLAWS units sold, with ten more due for delivery in early 2026; sales pipeline of about 200 units by 2028. Export opportunities named: Netherlands, Spain, and France, with ambitions for the rest of Europe, North America, and Australasia. Team to grow from 19 toward about 40. Many users “have reported a return on their investment within 1-2 seasons” (Centre wording — not an independent audit here).

Agri-TechE (secondary; older trial write-up). “Trials show CLAWS robot can accurately target weeds with killer beam.” Pulsed light in commercial trials; 3D cameras and AI; edge processing rather than cloud so scouting data is available in real time. Marketing executive Cristina García quoted on the Farm Control and Intelligence System. Agri-TechE states the pulsed light “dissipates after it reaches the target, unlike a laser which can bounce off something that is reflective such as a stone, glass or broken crockery.” CLAWS can weed, scout, or both.
