Tortuga AgTech (legal name Tortuga Agricultural Technologies, Inc., SEC Form D 2017) built and operated autonomous harvest robots. ColoradoBiz (10 Jul 2020): Denver, founded 2016 by CEO and co-founder Eric Adamson and CTO and co-founder Tim Brackbill. AgFunderNews (24 Mar 2025) calls the company Colorado-based. Eric Adamson’s LinkedIn role location is Denver, Colorado. The LinkedIn company page later lists Jersey City, New Jersey as headquarters with a Denver office — Jersey City is also Oishii’s HQ after the 2025 acquisition. No street address is taken from directories.
The opened tortugaagtech.com homepage now serves Oishii consumer pages. Catalog facts below are from Tortuga’s LinkedIn, Future Farming, GOFAR, AgFunderNews, The Packer, ColoradoBiz, SEC, named grower pages, and the founders’ LinkedIn — not from the current berry storefront.
Model F (photographed). AgFunderNews published a Tortuga-credited still of two units on a strawberry greenhouse path; the file is named Three_downrow_F_b.jpg (row numbers 31 and 37). Official Tortuga LinkedIn (16 Aug 2024) names Model F crews at The Summer Berry Company. Future Farming and GOFAR list F and G models together for strawberry or table grape. No isolated official still labeled Model G was captured for this add, so G is not a separate public product line.
What the robot does (sourced; not collapsed). Future Farming buyers’ guide and the 8 Feb 2024 Ag Robot of the Year article: primarily harvest; also data for forecasts, UV-C treatment, and trimming. Jury copy: two-arm picking; AI uses nearly twenty models; navigates in the row autonomously; offered on a service contract at a cost equivalent to hiring labour. GOFAR listing (company sales contact Eric Adamson): 17 AI/ML models on the edge; two-arm asynchronous motion planning; electric; net weight 727 lb / 330 kg; “Horse power: 3 Kilowatt hours”; TRL 8–9; RaaS; 150 units in service global; crew size 24 robots per farm, roadmap 100+ per farm. Future Farming buyers’ guide pricing: as a service at comparable pricing to human picking ($0.60–$0.85 per kilo picked). The Packer (24 Mar 2025), quoting Oishii on Tortuga’s technology: designed for both indoor and outdoor farming.
Customers and fleet (sourced). Official Tortuga LinkedIn, 16 Aug 2024: two Model F crews picked 101,207 berries in a single shift at The Summer Berry Company, 96% accuracy; that record beat one set six days earlier at THE NEW FOREST FRUIT CO. New Forest Fruit’s own sustainability page: “Tortuga robots support us with our strawberry and grape harvesting as well as crop harvesting estimates with the use of AI.” AgFunderNews (24 Mar 2025): commercial harvesting fleet 150 robots, originally built for strawberry picking. Eric Adamson LinkedIn (24 Mar 2025): 150 robots built and commercially deployed. Medium (official @tortugaagtech): commercial farms on two continents; fleet of 100, soon to be 150 (that post predates the 150 figure in 2025 press).
Acquisition (sourced). Official Tortuga LinkedIn (25 Mar 2025) and AgFunderNews / The Packer (24 Mar 2025): Oishii acquired Tortuga’s IP, assets, and engineering team. Adamson told AgFunderNews the teams had partnered that past fall in Oishii farm units. Independent Tortuga RaaS is not described as continuing after the deal. Capital raised is not collapsed: AgFunderNews quotes Oishii COO Brendan Somerville as “$50 million in capital over eight years”; The Packer says Tortuga “has raised $55 million since its founding in 2016”; Adamson’s LinkedIn says “$52M in venture capital and debt” / “$52MM raised.”
