Sami Robotics (Varennes, Quebec; formerly SAMI AgTech) publishes SAMI, a multifunctional robotic platform that “harvests and analyzes.” Official LinkedIn rebrand post (8 Jul 2026): “Today, Sami Agtech becomes Sami Robotics.” The former samiagtech.com product URL now serves this same harvesting site. Official homepage (accessed 2026-09-28): it automates labor-intensive field work by combining robotics, AI, and data analytics. Selective harvesting is the first application. The same platform is designed to support later field applications including weeding, thinning, fertilizing, and pest control. Future Farming (18 Aug 2026) quotes CEO and co-founder Pascal Labrecque that harvesting is the sole active focus for now, with no other capabilities currently in development.
Official careers copy (Varennes): “Our initial commercial focus is the autonomous harvesting of brassica vegetables and lettuce.” The retired catalog stub described a crop-scouting robot; no current official page supports a standalone scouting SKU, so that description is not kept.
Harvest method (official). Multiple robotic arms work in parallel over any bed configuration. Official sizes: 12 to 18 arms. Each arm spots and picks ripe vegetables in under three seconds, only those that are ready. Vision and lighting support day and night work. As it harvests, SAMI analyzes the field and can forecast what will be ready in the coming days. Official: “You start the machine, select the application, and it handles the field work from start to finish.” Capacity, weight, and throughput are shared during a field demonstration — no generic throughput, mass, or price is published on the opened official pages.
Crops (sourced; not collapsed). Official homepage: the broccoli application is available today; harvesting applications also listed there are romaine, iceberg, and artichoke (plus cauliflower on the crop-tile set). Official 2025 season: broccoli harvested and sold in Québec by SAMI — “not a lab prototype, a commercial harvest, in the field.” Future Farming (18 Aug 2026): romaine is close behind broccoli as the most advanced applications; iceberg lettuce and cauliflower sit further along the roadmap. Danny Bernstein (RESERVOIR) LinkedIn, 27 Sep 2026: the automated harvester at the Salinas site on Highway 68 is “validating harvest in iceberg, romaine, and brassicas, with growers giving feedback every day.”
Patents and funding (official). Selective robotic harvesting patented in Canada, the United States, and Europe. Other patents pending include the mobile platform and field tools. Supported by Québec MEIE and Agriculture & Agri-Food Canada. Official: finalist for “Innovator of the Year” 2026 at Québec’s Agtech Grands Prix. Demonstrations currently available in California only.
Leaders (sourced). Pascal Labrecque — CEO and co-founder (Future Farming; WGA / Vegetable Growers News). Éric Lapalme — CPO and co-founder (Vegetable Growers News quoting the Western Growers release). Official LinkedIn company page: founded 2023; headquarters Varennes, Quebec.
Reservoir Farms – Salinas (sourced). Vegetable Growers News (18 Jul 2026) and Future Farming: first Western Growers Center for Innovation & Technology–sponsored residency at Reservoir Farms, Salinas, California; initial focus harvesting. Bernstein (27 Sep 2026) names the Salinas site on Highway 68 and daily grower feedback on iceberg, romaine, and brassicas.
