Kilter’s AX-1 is an autonomous in-row weeding robot that sprays micro-droplets of herbicide onto weeds rather than broadcasting a field. The official product page says AI finds weeds and patented droplet technology aims herbicide at 6×6 mm accuracy, typically using pelargonic acid. With typical weed pressure around 5%, Kilter states an average 96.6% reduction in input use. The frame is modular and light; Kilter currently publishes a distributed dry weight of 300 kg.
The Robot Report (3 January 2026) located Kilter AS in Langhus, Norway, and listed: 260 kg dry weight (about 10% of a tractor-and-sprayer combination — this 260 kg figure is older than the 300 kg on the current official page); 50 L tank; 6×6 mm Single Drop Technology; about 1 ha/hour; up to 95% herbicide reduction versus broadcast spraying; 24/7 operation; compatible with standard herbicides and bio-herbicides such as pelargonic acid.
Kilter’s own blog says AX-1 launched in 2021 and is in use in Norway, Sweden, Germany, and the Netherlands (carrots, onions, salad, beets), with three robots operating in Australia.
