Vermeer Bale Hawk collects 257 bales in 24-hour test ↗

Vermeer’s autonomous Bale Hawk collected 257 round bales in a 24-hour field test, about 10.7 bales per hour. The goal was 300; the field ran out of bales. The tracked machine locates bales, lifts them on loading tracks without a spear, and carries three at a time to a programmed unloading point. Vermeer still describes Bale Hawk as a concept and says it is not for sale. Testing has run for several years in Iowa and surrounding US states.
